7：00 a.m. 上午7：00
So this is it—senior high school at last! I’m not outgoing so I’m a little anxious right now. I want to make a good first impression. Will I make any friends? What if no one talks to me?
就是这样——终于到了高中学校了！我性格并不外向，所以现在有点儿焦虑。我想给别人留下好的第一印象。我会交到朋友吗？要是没人跟我说话怎么办？


12: 30 p.m. 中午12：30
I just had my first maths class at senior high school! The class was difficult, but the teacher was kind and friendly. He even told us a funny story, and everyone laughed so much! I found most of my classmates and teachers friendly and helpful.
我刚刚上完高中的第一节数学课！这堂课很难，但老师却很和蔼可亲。他还给我们讲了一个有趣的故事，每个人都笑得很开心！我发现我的大多数同学和老师都很友好，而且乐于助人。

5: 32 p.m. 下午5：32
This afternoon, we had our chemistry class in the science lab. The lab is new and the lesson was great, but the guy next to me tried to talk to me the whole time. I couldn’t concentrate on the experiment. I really wanted to tell him to please be quiet and leave me alone!
今天下午，我们在科学实验室上了化学课。实验室是新的，这节课也很精彩，但坐在我旁边的那个家伙一直试图跟我说话。我无法集中精力做实验。我真想对他说：请安静点，别烦我！

10:29 p.m. 晚上10：29
What a day! This morning, I was worried that no one would talk to me. But I was wrong. I didn’t feel awkward or frightened at all. I miss my friends from junior high school, but I believe I will make new friends here, and there’s a lot to explore at senior high. I feel much more confident than I felt this morning. I think that tomorrow will be a great day!
多好的一天啊！今天早上，我担心没有人会跟我说话。但我错了。我一点儿也不觉得尴尬或害怕。我想念我初中的朋友，但我相信我会在这里会结交到新朋友，而且高中有很多事物等着我去探索。我感觉比今天早上自信多了。我相信，明天将是非常不错的一天！

1. After I had pictured it over and over again in my mind, the big day finally arrived: my first day at senior high! I woke up early and rushed out of the door in my eagerness to get to know my new school.
我在脑海中进行了无数次的想象之后，如今这一天终于来了：我高中生活的第一天！我一大早就起床冲出了家门，迫不及待地想了解我的新学校。

2. The campus was still quiet when I arrived, so I decided to explore a bit. I was looking at the photos on the noticeboard when I heard a voice behind me. “New here?” Turing around, I saw a white-haired man. “Yes,” I replied. “I’m wondering what life is going to be like here.” “Don’t worry,” he gave me a smile. “You’ll soon find out.”
我来到学校时，四周还是一片寂静，我决定四处探索一番。我正在浏览公告牌上的照片，身后忽然传来一个声音：“你是新生吗？” 我转过身，看到一位白发老人。“是的，”我答道，“我正在想这里的生活将是怎么样的。”“别担心,”他对我微微一笑,“你很快就会知道了。”

3. How true these words were! When my English teacher stepped into the classroom, I was surprised to see the same man I had met earlier.
这话说得真是太对了。当我的英语老师走进教室时，我惊讶地发现，他就是我之前遇到的那位老人。

4. “Good morning, everyone. Before we start, please come to the front one by one and introduce yourself to the class. I’ll go first…”
“大家早上好。开始上课前，请大家依次到前面来向全班介绍一下你自己。我先来……”

5. “What?!” I tried to turn on my brain but the engine just wouldn’t start. “I should say my name, of course. But what else? What could I say to make a good first impression? Something about my insect collection, perhaps.” I was organizing my words in my head when the girl next to me gave me a nudge. “It’s your turn!”
“什么？！”我试图让大脑运转起来，可引擎怎么就是无法发动呢。“我肯定得先介绍我的名字。还有呢？我该说些什么才能给别人留下个不错的第一印象呢？也许可以说说我收集昆虫标本的事。”我正忙着在脑海中组织语言,坐在我旁边的女孩轻轻推了我一下：“轮到你了！”

6. With butterflies in my stomach, I breathed deeply. “Hi, I’m Meng Hao.” Everyone started laughing. I looked at them in panic. “Nice to know we share the same name,” said my new teacher. I had been too nervous to pay attention when he introduced himself! Although I was embarrassed, his words made me a lot more relaxed!
我心里七上八下、紧张万分。我深吸了一口气说：“大家好，我叫孟浩。”大家一下子哄笑起来,我惊慌失措地盯着他们。“很高兴我们同名啊。”我的新老师说。我刚才太紧张了，竟然没有仔细听老师的自我介绍！尽管有些尴尬,老师的话还是让我放松了很多！

7. When we had all introduced ourselves, Mr Meng said, “Well done, everyone! I know this isn’t easy for many of you. But this is just the kind of thing you are going to face at senior high. Challenges like this might sometimes put you under pressure. But it all depends on what you do. Keep calm and be prepared. That way, you’ll make the most of your time at senior high.”
我们都介绍完后，孟老师说：“大家都做得很好！我知道这对你们很多人来说并不容易，但这种情况正是大家在高中阶段将要面对的。类似的挑战有时可能会让大家倍感压力，但是一切都取决于你自己的努力。大家要时刻保持冷静，做好准备，这样就可以充分利用高中的时光了。”

8. People say, “Well begun, half done.” I guess this was a good beginning to my new school life.
常言道：“好的开始是成功的一半。”我想，我的高中生活开了一个好头。

I do a wide range of things online. Besides doing all my school work, I chat with my friends, watch films and read the daily news and other interesting articles; I also shop for various things online, such as books, computer hardware and other necessities. It’s so convenient to be able to compare the quality and prices from different online shops before I buy. I also play computer games from time to time and I even play tennis on my television screen in my living room!
我在网上做很多事情。除了做所有的学校作业外，我还和朋友聊天，看电影，阅读每日新闻和其他有趣的文章；我还在网上买各种各样的东西，如书籍、电脑硬件和其他必需品。购物前，能够比较不同的网络商店的质量和价格是非常方便的。我也经常玩电脑游戏，甚至用客厅的电视屏幕打网球游戏！

My parents are worried that I may become an “Internet addict”. They think I’m playing computer games all the time and I chat too much with online friends. According to them, there is a danger that I may not be able to tell whether these friends are real friends. My mum keeps telling me to go out with my school friends instead. Maybe she’s right. It’s important to meet friends in person from time to time, not just on social media. Actually, I do know I need to drag myself away from the online world sometimes, especially because real life can be just as interesting.
我父母担心我会成为一个网迷。他们认为我一直不停地玩电脑游戏，并且总和网友聊天。在他们看来，我可能无法判断这些人是否是真朋友，这是危险的。妈妈一直让我和学校的朋友们出去玩（而不是在家打游戏）。也许她是对的。时不时与朋友亲自见面是很重要的，不能只是利用网络交流。事实上，我非常清楚我有时需要强迫自己不上网，特别是因为现实生活也可以一样有趣。
