Justdays before the holiday, Brad was doing some deep breathing exercises in hisbackyard pool while his twin 10-year-old sons, Bridon and Christian, playedwith their friend, Sam Ebert. Brad does this meditation(冥想) every day, sitting cross-legged on the bottom of the pool forminutes on end.

At some point he stopped breathing and fellover onto his side, his face turning pale. Christian noticed that his dad wassitting in a different way than usual so he jumped into the water.

“Dad’s not okay!”Christian called out to his brother. Bridon told Sam to call for help, butsince they didn’t have any phones with them, Sam had torun to a neighbor’s house. When he discovered that noone was home, he ran outside and turned to a passing driver who then called 911.

Meanwhile,Christian and Bridon dragged(拖) Brad over the pool’s stairs, but he was not breathing. Although he’d never done CPR before, Bridon said they’dseen it done on TV. The boy began to perform CPR and rescue breaths all thewhile begging, “Please, dad, come back.” Soon, an ambulance arrived. It was then that Brad began to cough — he was back!

“When I kind of came to — I’m coughing up blood and water, struggling to breathe, and there arepeople everywhere. My one son was shouting, ‘Daddy, daddy, come back!’” said Brad.

Afterspending a night in the hospital, Brad was able to go home. Now, he’s counting his lucky stars that he wasn’talone in the pool that day, and he’s advising others tonever swim alone. Most importantly, he couldn’t be morethankful that his sons and their friend were able to act so quickly to save hislife.
